Jailer 2 Box Office Collection Day 3: Nelson, Rajinikanth Film Crosses Rs 100 Crore MarkOct 17, 2026, 23:54 IST

Nelson Dilipkumar and Rajinikanth reunited to bring his iconic character of Muthuvel Pandian, aka the retired jailer Tiger, back for the sequel. Jailer 2, written and directed by Nelson, was released in theatres on October 15, creating a stir with a massive opening of nearly Rs 60 crore. While the numbers dipped on the second day, the Tamil action comedy roared back to life on its third day. Boasting a hit soundtrack from composer Anirudh Ravichander and some stellar cameos from stars like Mohanlal to Hrithik Roshan, Jailer 2 is aiming to hit Rs 150 crore at the end of its opening weekend.

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Jailer 2 earned Rs 47.80 crore on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 14,488 shows. It saw a 28.8 per cent growth from its second day when it only earned Rs 37.10 crore. The highest numbers for Jailer 2 came from the Tamil version, which garnered Rs 34.60 crore from 7,693 shows, while the Telugu version had Rs 8.50 crore from 2,098 shows, and the Hindi one mustered Rs 4.25 crore from 4,549 shows. The Kannada version only had Rs 45 lakhs from 148 shows. The total India nett collections are Rs 144.60 crore so far.

At the box office, Jailer 2 faced off against Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali, Rajkummar Rao's biopic Prahaar, Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli, and the Hollywood films Street Fighter and Whalefall. The sequel still managed to find an edge over them all, especially with it being South superstar Rajinikanth's first release in a year. The worldwide collections of Jailer 2 are even more impressive, as the Tamil film has racked up a global gross collection of Rs 317.15 crore. Additionally, this time, the Rajinikanth starrer was also released in IMAX.

Produced by Kalanithi Maran through Sun Pictures, the sequel brought back actors from the original film, including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik. Meanwhile, SJ Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Vidya Balan joined the cast as new antagonists to go up against Rajinikanth's Muthuvel Pandian. Many Nelson collaborators also returned in most of the technical departments as well.

The Tamil film also has several special appearances from veteran actors Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, and Jackie Shroff, along with Vijay Sethupathi and Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan. However, there has been some criticism from fans about the Malayalam star Mohanlal's reduced screentime in the second film.
