Hyderabad: As heavy rains lashed parts of the city on Monday, September 22, the water levels have risen above the danger level in the Hussain Sagar in Hyderabad.

The danger level at the Hussain Sagar lake is 513.41 meters, and the current water level is 513.63 meters. It was explained that the inflow is 1530 cusecs and the outflow is 1525 cusecs. The flood water is continuing to rise heavily into Hussain Sagar from the Kukatpally, Banjara Hills, Picket and Bulkapur drains, reported ABN.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has issued warnings to the people of the areas downstream of Hussain Sagar to remain alert.

In view of the expected weather conditions, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city. Though it is the monsoon season and rains are normal, residents are witnessing a nightmare due to the poor condition of the roads.

Due to potholes, overflowing drains and waterlogging, many commuters, especially motorists, are at risk. These issues are not limited to localities but are being witnessed on many main roads too.

In view of the rain forecast issued by IMD Hyderabad, residents need to plan their travel accordingly.
