LinkedIn Says AI Slop Gets 40% Fewer Views After A Million Users Hit New Flagging Button

With the advancement of artificial intelligence tools, the internet is getting filled with AI-generated content. With its AI-content flagging button, LinkedIn has decided to take a stronger stand against it. The professional networking platform says more than a million users have already clicked its new “Seems like AI slop” button.

This button was introduced by the platform on July 30 and can be accessed through the three-dot menu on a post.

In a post on Thursday, LinkedIn Chief Product Officer Hari Srinivasan said users are seeing 40 percent fewer views on content that LinkedIn identifies as AI slop compared with just a few weeks earlier.

The figure does not mean the amount of AI-generated content on LinkedIn has fallen by 40 percent. Instead, LinkedIn says posts classified as AI slop are receiving fewer views.

Srinivasan said, “First, thank you. Over a million people have now clicked ‘seems like AI slop,’ since we launched it two weeks ago...helping us better understand how our community experiences low-quality content. As a reminder, you can send this feedback in the three dot menu on any post & comment.”

He added, “This week, we're taking another step. If a post receives enough community feedback, you may see a message in your Post Analytics to help you understand how your content is being received. We approached this assuming good intent; I know I'm increasingly conscious on how to not sound like AI & the goal is to provide helpful feedback.”

The company has also upgraded its systems for identifying AI-generated content. LinkedIn says it has introduced “new and improved” classifiers designed to detect posts created with AI.

Srinivasan concluded his post, “I hesitate to give numbers, as everyone has a different network and feed, but overall members are now experiencing 40% less views on what we classify as AI slop from just a few weeks ago. Despite the progress, we know we have more to do to ensure LinkedIn remains a place where you can find real people & real perspectives... this all remains very top of mind.”
