Jammu: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has successfully restored traffic movement of both Light Motor vehicles and heavy motor vehicles along the Ramban-Banihal section of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway after extensive damage caused by flash floods. The men and machines of NHAI worked round-the-clock to restore connectivity and all stranded vehicles have been cleared, NHAI spokesperson said. “As of today, both Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) are permitted on the Ramban-Banihal stretch”, she said. Rudraprayag: Rescuers rummaged through knee-high debris in the Chenagad area of Rudraprayag district on Saturday in search of missing persons, a day after heavy rain and cloudbursts pounded various districts of Uttarakhand and left a trail of destruction. Out of the 11 people missing, eight, including four locals and as many Nepali labourers, are from the Chenagad area and three from Bageshwar. New Delhi: The water level of the Yamuna river rose to 205.52 metres at the Old Railway Bridge here on Saturday evening, crossing the danger mark of 205.33 metres, an official said. The situation is being closely monitored and all the agencies concerned have been asked to take precautionary measures to handle a potential flood-like situation as the water level is predicted to rise further, according to the official. Chennai: The Tamil Nadu government will procure paddy at an enhanced price of Rs 2,545 per quintal from farmers for the Kuruvai (Kharif) season, state Food and Civil Supplies Minister R Sakkarapani said on Saturday. The move follows a direction from Chief Minister M K Stalin to procure paddy from September 1 for the procurement season 2025-26 at Rs 2,545 per quintal for Grade ‘A’ paddy and Rs 2,500 per quintal of common paddy variety, he said. Jaipur: Former vice-president of India Jagdeep Dhankhar has applied for pension as a former legislator in Rajasthan, officials said. Dhankhar, who represented the Kishangarh Assembly constituency as a Congress MLA from 1993 to 1998, received pension as a former legislator until July 2019. It was discontinued after he was appointed the governor of West Bengal.
