Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Tuesday said the government directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing allegations of “multiple murders, rapes and burials” in Dharmasthala to complete the investigation at the earliest. A total of 141 incidents of hate crimes and 102 cases of hate speech were recorded between June and August 2025 across India, the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) reported. Kolkata: West Bengal recorded 34,691 cases of crimes against women in 2023, the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data shows. Adding 10,024 pending cases from 2022, the total caseload under investigation in 2023 reached 44,731. The state police disposed of 34,344 cases during the year, maintained an impressive 93.8 % rate of filing charge-sheets, and reported a pendency rate of 23.2 %. The data also shows 1,110 rape cases — including 27 of minors — and highlights that in many instances the perpetrator was known to the victim.
