An Indian-origin woman was killed, and another was critically injured in a shooting in New Jersey’s Middlesex County in the US. The police identified the suspect as 19-year-old Gaurav Gill, also of Indian origin, who has been taken into custody. According to a Times of India report, the woman who died was from Punjab. Responding to a report of gunfire, police arrived at the scene to find two women with severe gunshot wounds on Wednesday (June 14). Both victims were airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. Indian national Nikhil Gupta, 53, accused of being involved in a murder-for-hire plot against a Khalistani terrorist on American soil, will now face justice in a US courtroom, Attorney General Merrick Garland has said, asserting that the country will not tolerate attempts to harm its citizens. A 23-year-old man allegedly died by suicide after he was sexually assaulted by four men, one of whom he knew through social media, officials said on Monday. The accused allegedly recorded the assault that happened in a hotel on Thursday and demanded extortion money from the victim, threatening that otherwise they would post the video online, they said. The victim allegedly died by suicide late night on Friday, hours after police lodged an FIR in the case. His body was found by family members on Saturday morning. Senior Karnataka BJP leader and former MLC, M.B. Bhanuprakash (69), passed away on Monday due to a heart attack after participating in a protest against the fuel price hike introduced by the Congress government in the state on Saturday. Soon after the protest at the Gopi Circle in Shivamogga city, Bhanuprakash collapsed. Although he was rushed to a private hospital by the BJP workers, he was declared dead there.
