Passengers stuck inside a bus under the flooded Kodia Bridge underpass in Delhi’s Kishanganj were pulled out by police and rescue teams on Friday. The bus was stranded under the bridge for over two hours due to severe flooding after heavy rain in the national capital. Visuals from the spot show passengers swimming to safety from the submerged bus as policemen and rescue workers used ropes to help them. Ex-Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been granted bail by the High Court. “Bail is granted. The court held, prima facie, Hemant Soren is not guilty, and there is no likelihood of the petitioner committing an offence on bail,” Mr Soren’s counsel Arunabh Chowdhury, told news agency PTI. Given there are no other cases against him at this time, Mr Soren may be released soon. Bail was reportedly granted on payment of two sureties of Rs 50,000 each. A government-appointed committee has sought suggestions from students and parents to reform and/or restructure the National Testing Agency, the central body under-fire over multiple irregularities in conduct of the NEET-UG tests for admission to medical courses, and the UGC-NET exam, which sorts candidates for appointment to professorial posts in colleges and universities.
