Bengaluru: In a major development for Bengaluru’s long-pending suburban rail initiative, Karnataka Rail Infrastructure Development Enterprise has given a Rs 1,513.75 crore contract to Integral Coach Factory (ICF) for the supply of 153 modern metro-style rail coaches. The contract marks a massive procurement decision under the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project and is expected to accelerate the implementation of key corridors. According to project authorities, the coaches will be broad-gauge, air-conditioned and designed with metro-like features to improve commuter experience.
