A health alert has been issued in the state of Arizona, in the United States, after a rodent-borne hantavirus killed four people. The virus spreads to humans through droplets from the urine, saliva, or faeces of the rats. From January to July, the Arizona Department of Health Services documented seven instances of Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome, a serious and occasionally lethal respiratory disease. Six persons have been identified, and one arrested, after shocking videos – showing students being assaulted at Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Subbaraya and Narayana College – went viral online. A 20-year-old college student’s hike with her father, which started with her crossing something off her bucket list, ended tragically earlier this month when she fell to her death from Yosemite’s Half Dome.
