Yennam Launches Edu Volunteer Initiative

Hyderabad:Government Whip and Mahbubnagar MLA Yennam Srinivas Reddy has launched an educational volunteer programme to achieve 100 per cent education and provide students with continuous guidance and support. The initiative, initially implemented with 35 volunteers and yielding encouraging results, was being expanded with 100 educational volunteers in the constituency.

Addressing a meeting at Mahbubnagar after inducting the new volunteers on Saturday, Srinivas Reddy said every person in society had a responsibility to guide students in the right direction. Teachers, parents, public representatives and officials must effectively discharge their responsibilities to secure the future of children, he said. Children should be closely observed from an early age, particularly their thinking, behaviour, interests and approach towards studies. Educational volunteers should monitor students' regular attendance, homework, compliance with teachers' instructions, attitude and difficulties in studies, rather than merely helping with lessons, the legislator said.

Srinivas Reddy said teachers already had several responsibilities, including completing the curriculum, preparing lesson plans, conducting examinations and submitting government reports. Volunteers could strengthen the education system by observing students closely and sharing their abilities, problems and concerns with teachers. Modern tools such as 3D animation, digital learning, animated books and digital boards were also being provided to improve learning outcomes.

He said the Mahbubnagar model would be strengthened to benefit rural students and eventually become a state and national-level model. He appreciated teachers and subject experts who attended training camps, taught students and cleared their doubts, saying collective efforts would make the programme an example for the country.

District collector Khushboo Gupta appreciated the initiative and Srinivas Reddy's efforts. She hoped the appointment of women volunteers would make the education system stronger and safer.
