Yash’s Toxic: Unsold OTT Rights a Result of a Blunder

Yash’s recent outing Toxic has failed to secure an OTT platform deal prior to its release. Before its launch, it was considered one of the most awaited movies of the year. However, the film faced rejections at the box office. Initially, Toxic was offered Rs 150 cr, but the actor turned down the offer expecting a larger amount.

Consequently, the film was released without any digital streaming agreements after top platforms backed out following the poor box office response.

Later, Zee5 reportedly offered Rs 30 cr to acquire the digital rights. The latest reports indicate that the streaming platform set a condition to pay half the amount upfront, with the remainder structured under a pay-per-view model.

The film has incurred heavy losses, and the makers would have been in a much safer financial position if they had finalized an OTT deal before its release.
