A 28-year-old man from Punjab was shot dead in New York City while he was out delivering pizza, leaving his family and villagers back home in Kapurthala devastated. The victim has been identified as Gurdeep Singh, a resident of Jabbowal village in the Bholath area of Punjab's Kapurthala district. According to his family, Gurdeep had travelled to the US around 13 years ago after taking a loan, hoping to earn a livelihood and build a better future for his parents.

Gurdeep's father, Pyara Lal, said the family had taken on a heavy debt burden to send his son abroad. After reaching the US, Gurdeep faced several hardships but continued working long hours to support his family and provide them with a better life.

Gurdeep was working as a pizza delivery driver in New York when he was shot. His family has alleged that the killing may have been linked to a robbery attempt, although the exact motive has not been officially established and remains under investigation.

According to CBS News New York, police received a 911 call at around 10 p.m. on Friday reporting a shooting on Crescent Street near Stanley Avenue in East New York. Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Surveillance footage obtained by CBS News New York appeared to show two people fighting in the street before flashes consistent with gunshots were seen. One person then fell to the ground, while the other got into a car and drove away. Police searched the area for several hours but no arrests have been made so far.
