The Mumbai Police has revealed that Tiger Shroff was allegedly not the shooters’ original target. According to the police, the accused had initially planned to target another prominent Bollywood celebrity but could not proceed because of the person’s tight security arrangements.
Mumbai Police told IANS, "The accused in the Tiger Shroff firing case initially planned to target another Bollywood celebrity but later chose Tiger Shroff after failing to reach their original target. They learned that the actor did not have police security through Instagram reels posted by his fans."
They further added that the accused also monitored his activities and movements through videos and posts on his and his fans' Instagram accounts and conducted reconnaissance before targeting him. Initial questioning revealed that the plan was to kill the actor to spread fear in Bollywood. Police are currently verifying these revelations as part of the ongoing investigation.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police have taken custody of three suspects arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota in connection with the firing incident. A local court granted the Maharashtra Police a 48-hour transit remand, permitting them to transport the accused to Mumbai for further investigation. Following the court’s order, the police reportedly revised their initial transportation arrangements and implemented an alternative strategy referred to as ‘Plan B’. The three accused were kept at the Railway Colony police station in Kota overnight.
Visuals from the police station showed heightened security, with personnel from both the Mumbai Police Crime Branch and Rajasthan Police deployed around the premises. Reports suggest that the police had initially planned to transport the suspects to Mumbai overnight but later decided to keep them in Kota as part of the revised arrangements.
Railway Colony Police Station SHO Ramswaroop Meena confirmed that the accused had been granted a 48-hour transit remand and were being taken to Mumbai by the Maharashtra Police.
Following the October 18, 2026, firing incident, Tiger Shroff’s team issued an official statement clarifying that the actor had not made any public comments about the attack. The team urged people to rely only on information shared through official channels and cautioned against circulating misinformation or AI-generated content related to the actor. It also warned that legal action could be taken against individuals found creating or spreading fabricated material.
The firing incident took place around 7 pm on Sunday in Mumbai’s Juhu area, when Tiger Shroff was leaving a football club. The accused allegedly opened fire at the actor’s car. Tiger escaped without sustaining any direct gunshot injuries, but his driver was injured in the incident. The police subsequently launched an investigation to identify those responsible and establish the motive behind the attack.
According to the police, the three suspects were apprehended while travelling on a train. Following their arrest in Kota, the Maharashtra Police secured transit remand to bring them to Mumbai for further questioning.
