Saudi Customs report 1,173 contraband seizures last week 1 h ago

RIYADH — Customs at land, sea, and air ports across Saudi Arabia recorded 1,173 seizures of contraband last week.

The seized items included 70 types of narcotics, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, crystal meth, and Captagon pills, in addition to 216 other prohibited materials.

Customs ports also foiled attempts to smuggle 888 shipments of tobacco and its derivatives, along with 13 shipments of counterfeit currency and one shipment of weapons and related equipment.

This was part of the ongoing efforts of the Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) to strengthen security and safeguard society against all types and forms of prohibited substances. ZATCA affirmed its commitment to maintaining stringent customs control over the Kingdom’s imports and exports to ensure the security and protection of society, through continuous cooperation and coordination with all relevant partners.

ZATCA called on the public to contribute to combating smuggling and protecting society and the national economy by reporting such activities through the dedicated security reports number (1910), via email at ([email protected]), or through the international number (009661910).

The authority receives reports related to smuggling crimes and violations of the provisions of the Unified Customs Law through these channels in complete confidentiality, with a financial reward provided to the whistleblower if the information contained in the report is verified as correct.
