Ravi Teja Draws Rs 19 Crore, Bounces Back with Irumudi?

After a string of flops, popular actor Ravi Teja appears to be making a strong comeback with his latest release Irumudi, which has reportedly posted impressive collections in its first two days. “The film has garnered a share of over Rs 19 crore in the two Telugu states, which is a great number,” says a distributor.

According to him, Ravi Teja’s intense performance and the pre-release buzz around the songs featuring Lord Ayyappa helped draw audiences to theatres. “The devotional elements created curiosity, while Ravi Teja’s intense portrayal brought crowds to the theatres,” he adds.

The father-daughter bonding is another aspect that has reportedly connected with the audience, while the shocking climax has added to the impact of the dark entertainer. “Ravi Teja should avoid overdoing comedy and instead explore serious roles that suit his age. He has got it right with Irumudi and appears to have regained his winning touch,” the distributor points out.

Ravi Teja’s market had taken a hit following a series of disappointments, including Tiger Nageswara Rao, Eagle and Mr Bachchan. With several of his recent films struggling to cross even the Rs 4–5 crore mark, there was growing talk in industry circles that his theatrical pull was weakening.

“Everything has changed with Irumudi. The film is expected to reach break-even in just a few days and could cross Rs 40 crore in share, potentially setting a new record for Ravi Teja in recent times,” he concludes.
