Promising First Half Derailed by Weak Writing and Slow Pacing — Paris Café

Cast: Guru Somasundaram, Anumol, Archana Kumar, Vijay Vishwa

The story follows Gautham (Guru Somasundaram), a government doctor, and his wife Thara (Anumol), an architect, whose comfortable marriage collapses after Gautham attends a Paris seminar. At a café, he uncovers a photo tied to a tragic past. Revealing this buried secret to Thara creates a rift, leading her to leave him. Refusing to believe her parents are separated, their daughter Oli (Archana) returns to Chennai from the US with her partner Kavin (Vijay Vishwa) to reunite them. The rest of the narrative weaves their reconciliation effort with an underlying honor killing mystery.

Guru Somasundaram offers an authentic portrayal of a man haunted by his past, while Anumol is equally effective in a meaty role. Vijay Vishwa and Archana share decent chemistry. Sai Vicky, Nayana Sai and Bipin are okay.

The director’s unique take on honor killing holds promises. Though the first half is engaging, the second half drags noticeably, weighed down by predictable writing. Music by K and visuals by Sathish G effectively complement the narrative.
