Police Arrest 15 In Madipalli Murder Case
Police have arrested 15 persons in connection with the murder of Guntaka Ramesh, 43, at Madipalli village in Thorrur mandal in Mahabubad district. Police suspect that longstanding grudges and disputes in the village may have led to the killing.
Thorrur sub-inspector Krishna Kishore said they have identified Kayithapu Yakaiah as the prime accused, who is among those arrested.
According to police, Ramesh had allegedly been attacked by a group of persons from the same community at Madipalli on August 19. Ramesh sustained serious injuries and later died. Police said Yakaiah had developed a grudge against Ramesh as the latter frequently abused and threatened community elders.
Thorrur police said the arrested persons would be produced before a court after questioning.
Ramesh had been working as a DCM driver in Warangal. He used to visit Madipalli once every two weeks. Police pointed to a history of caste-related disputes in the village, including the murders of Guntaka Narsaiah in 2003 and Kayithapu Jampaiah in 2005.
Police are investigating whether old rivalries had any connection with Ramesh’s murder and whether any other persons are involved in the crime.
