A Prime Air Boeing 767-300 freighter has overrun a runway at Miami International Airport after arriving from San Juan, Puerto Rico, with the aircraft later catching fire and coming to rest near a warehouse complex. The aircraft reportedly overran Runway 30 at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon, crossing a roadway before coming to rest in a field near an Amazon warehouse.

Images from the scene showed the Amazon-branded aircraft close to a building, with heavy smoke rising from it. Video footage showed flames engulfing parts of the freighter and thick black smoke billowing into the sky.

Emergency services reported multiple fatalities following the crash, although it was not immediately clear whether those killed were aboard the aircraft or were on the ground.

Preliminary reports indicated that four people had been classified as "black tag", a designation used for people believed to have died, while two others were listed as "red tag", indicating critical injuries. Those figures have not been independently confirmed.

All departing flights from Miami International Airport were halted following the incident, according to local media.

Emergency crews remained at the scene as firefighters tackled the blaze and smoke continued to rise from the aircraft.
