Maruti Suzuki has launched the Baleno facelift at Rs 6.10 lakh, ex-showroom and the update's biggest talking point is a Level 2 ADAS suite that none of its rivals currently offer, a genuine first for this price bracket that could reshape how the hatchback is cross-shopped against the Altroz and i20. Beyond safety tech, the update touches the engine, cabin comfort and styling with pricing running up to Rs 9.58 lakh for the top trim. 1. A New Engine and CNG Finally Gets An Automatic

The Baleno facelift now uses a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine shared with the Swift and Dzire, offered with a manual or AMT gearbox. The CNG version of this engine can now be paired with an AMT as well, ending a long wait for buyers who wanted CNG running costs without a manual gearbox.

The new Maruti Baleno also introduces a Level 2 ADAS suite covering adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic emergency braking as well as high-beam assist. No rival hatchback in this segment currently offers this feature set, making it the single biggest differentiator in this update.

3. Ventilated Front Seats, A Segment-First

Ventilated front seats have been added, a first for this price bracket and a feature previously available only on more expensive cars. For buyers in hotter parts of the country, this is arguably as relevant day-to-day as the ADAS suite.

Changes include a reworked front grille with black slats, redesigned bumpers, new fog lamp housings, a fresh alloy wheel design along with a new Enigmatic Teal colour option. Headlamps, taillamps and overall dimensions remain unchanged.

Six airbags now come across trims along with ABS with EBD, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, hill-hold assist, a wireless charger with cooling and a Clarion-branded sound system.

Taken together, the ADAS suite and ventilated seats are the two changes likely to influence buying decisions the most since both were previously reasons to pick a rival over the Baleno.
