Karthi Film Sardar 2 Draws Dismal Openings?

The much hyped dubbed movie Sardar 2 featuring Karthi and Malavika Mohanan garners lukewarm openings. "It collected Rs 1.6 crore net collections on first day in Telugu states, says a distributor. "Karthi spent lot of time in Hyderabad to promote his spy thriller yet audience didn't turn up in big numbers, he adds.

Karthi played dual roles in the action adventure but the sluggish and over the top narration mars the show. "It looks to be forced sequel to Sardar rather than organic hence the protoganist mission goes awry and leaves audience in despair, he points out.

Interestingly, his brother and actor Suriya is delivering back to back hits like Veerabhadrudu and Vishvanath and Sons, while Karthi is unable to do the same. "Karthi won appreciation of Telugu audience with films like Awara, Khaidi and critical acclaim for Oopiri. He needs another good script and success to regain his winning streak in Telugu states, he concludes.
