Actor Radha Charges Sister Ambika With Stealing Signed Cheques, Transferring Rs. 46 Crore

Chennai: Popular film actor of yesteryear, Radha, on Monday filed a complaint against her elder sister Ambika, who was also a popular actor, stating that she had used Radha’s signed cheques to transfer money into her account.

Radha, who was introduced by director Bharathiraja in the film ‘Alaigal Oyvadhadillai’ in 1981, was a successful actor, pairing with top heroes of the day, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. She stayed at a house in Valasaravakkam and allowed her sister Ambika to visit her often.

She said, “I used to keep five or six signed cheques in the room to be filled and given to the workers, electricity bills, property tax and for other charges. After starting a business firm in the name ‘RR Garden’, I stopped using the old cheque book. But, five cheque leaves in the old cheque book were stolen and a total of Rs. 46 crore was transferred to the account of my sister Ambika.”

Radha said it was a conspiracy by her sister Ambika and brother Mallikarjuna Kunjan with the aim of cheating and defrauding her. They had stolen the cheque leaves and transferred money illegally, she alleged.
